What is the Annexstad Family Foundation?
The Foundation was established by Al and Cathy Annexstad and their family to provide financial support for higher education to deserving students who have matured through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

What does the scholarship provide?
The amount of the scholarship will be based upon the individual financial circumstances of the student and the availability of resources from the Annexstad Family Foundation Scholarship. By combining student aid resources available from the Annexstad Family Foundation, federal, state, and schools’ sources, the program’s goal is to assure funds for tuition, fees, room, board, and books are provided. Assuming the continued good standing and annual demonstrated financial need of the student, the scholarship will be renewed annually throughout the standard period required to obtain a bachelor’s degree at the Institute.

Who is eligible?
A successful candidate will be a student who has shown outstanding performance in high school, with special emphasis placed on academic achievement, character, and qualities of leadership, while demonstrating significant financial need. The student must have matured as a “Little” in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Minnesota or Georgia and be accepted for admission to the Georgia Institute of Technology.

How will the selection be made?
The Institute will determine the recipient from the list of candidates who have applied and been accepted based upon the guidelines and who also meet the conditions of the scholarship as outlined.

How does one apply?
Applications for the Annexstad Family Foundation Scholarship are available from your local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter. Applicants should contact the BBBS Executive Director to begin the application process. Applicants are also required to complete an application for financial aid through Georgia Tech’s Office of Student Financial Planning & Services. The application process includes the Georgia Tech Application for Financial Aid and Scholarships and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Georgia Tech uses the FAFSA to determine eligibility for all federal, state and Institute aid programs. Application instructions and contact information is available on the web at www.finaid.gatech.edu. The application deadline is March 1st. The application for Admission and the application for this scholarship and other student financial aid are separate processes. Meeting the deadline is very important so do not wait until you have been accepted for admission to apply for aid.

When will the recipient be named?
The admissions decision letter will be mailed by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by mid-March. Annexstad Family Foundation Scholarship recipients will be selected and financial aid award letters mailed the first week of April each year.
